we are …
Pohanna Pyne Feinberg, founder and editor
I started www.inspireart.org in 2008 with the goal of creating a public space where ideas about community art in Montreal can be shared and where related events and programs in the region can be promoted and archived.
As an art educator, I have recently worked with the Wapikoni Mobile, Leave Out Violence (LOVE), LE Mois de la Photo à Montréal, South Asian Womens’ Community Centre, andVezina High School. I have an MA in Art History from Concordia University (2011) and my thesis explores documentation strategies for community art, with a focus on the archives from the Skol/CEDA co-creative collaboration.
Heather Davis, contributor
Heather Davis is a researcher, writer, and community artist based out of Montréal interested in the political potentials of expanded artistic practice. Her current work, as a Ph.D. student in the Joint Program of Communication at Concordia University, focuses on subjectivity within collective contemporary artistic practices and community arts. She has worked on the intersection of these thoughts and practices through conducting workshops at Perspectives II, a high-school in Montréal; at Sketch and Sistering in Toronto; and through five years of initiation into the world of community arts as a gardener with the Cosmic Birdfeeder and Spiral Garden art/play programs hosted by Bloorview Kids Rehab. She is currently wishing she spent more time in the dirt than with her computer.
